Juke Joint Swing

I've had it up to here with all that modern jazz
So glad the heyday of new wave has come to pass
I'll praise the day that hip hop has finally taken wing
But I ain’t never gonna get enough of that Juke Joint Swing

Mozart and Beethoven really make me cringe
Someone oughtta lay some funky oil on that hinge
And ragtime's been wore out since cotton was king
But you ain't never gonna knock the crown off Juke Joint Swing

Come on little darlin come show me how to play
Turn yourself about and walk off thata way
When you find your partner pull him toward you close and tight
n’ say "Let me show you how to dance the Juke Joint Swing tonight"

Well the blues has got it's place for them that's feelin low
Broadway cats they really know the way to stop a show
But I ain'ta gonna dance tonight, I ain't gonna sing
Till I hear the band start jumpin on that Juke Joint Swing

I've heard your lovely waltzes about the Blue Danube
And you might think I'm country maybe I'm a rube
Those pretty melodies make me want to crawl right back in bed
But I’m wide awoke once the first bar of that Juke Joint hits my head

Some folks dig the balmy strains of Brahms lullabies
They dream of gliding down purple streams while some dear lover sighs
When I wanna hear a croon I'll take my daily dose of Bing
Then dive straight into boogieland on Juke Joint Swing

Paper Tears

You thought he was strong and tough
A rock you could rely on
Now you’ve seen quite enough
Of your paper lion

You thought he was built to last
A mountain to stand high on
Now the last hope is past
For your paper lion

Don’t even let it start
A cry nobody hears
Don’t let him break your heart
Those are only paper tears

You hoped he had the right stuff
A big shoulder to cry on
But hope sank low when you called the bluff
Of your paper lion

Don’t even let it start
A cry nobody hears
Don’t let him break your heart
Those are only paper tears
Only paper tears
